Rabbi Ayala Sha'ashou'a-Miron receives a Torah from Cantor Jessica Roskin, Rabbi Jonathan Miller and Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss of Birmingham's Temple Emanu-El during a reception on Feb. 26. Miron started a liberal congregation in Rosh Ha'Ayin, sister city of Birmingham and New Orleans, over a year ago, in what has been a traditional Yemenite town. Rosh Ha'Ayin has tripled in size in the last decade, and is now home to a large military retiree community and high-tech industry (full story in the upcoming issue of the DSJV).
